Salt

A majority of patients with CKD tend to be “salt-sensitive” in that they may not be able to excrete sodium properly. Therefore it is important to monitor fluid and sodium intake in patients with CKD, minimizing salt/saline exposure and using diuretics where appropriate to avoid congestive heart failure and edema.
